China Shipping’s strong fleet of 440 ships have aggregated deadweight of 15 million tons and produced an annual traffic volume of 270 millions tons in 2008. They are of various special purposes ships such as tanker, container, bulk carrier and passenger ship. Based on operating ship capacity, China Shipping through its subsidiary, China Shipping Container Lines Company (CSCL) which owns 156 ships with total capacity of 490,000 TEUS, has successfully positioned it self as the fifth biggest container shipping lines in the world.

In tanker field, China shipping is the largest tanker shipping company whose 60 ships of VLCC, Aframac, Panamax and Handymax have an annual capacity of 60 millions tons. By 2010, China shipping will have additional capacity of 8.5 million ton including 12 units of VLCC.
